Orlando Gay Days 2010 is History but 2011 Holds Great Promise!

Orlando's 2010 Gay Days are now behind us and all I can say is WoW what a Weekend!

This year's Gay Days was a blast and after month's of planning seemed way to short. However, I am not sure I could take to many more days of events, but I can say this was my favorite Gay Days to date.

While I haven't got feedback from all of my friends about all the events, I will say "Congrats and Thank You to all involved in Gay Days 2010" and Orlando should thank you to for helping boost the local economy!

I hope this leads to more great events in 2011 and more positive energy. 2011's Gay Days theme is Cowboys and Cowgirls!

And as my friend Kevin said this morning at 5 am at the after party, "Cool I can wear my Chaps!"

Oh My! At least I have 360 days to get ready for that!

I am Loving Gay Days 2010

If you came to Orlando's Gay Days this year I hope you can leave with the same feeling I have for this year's Gay Days "Lved It" and I still have a few events to go.

In my opinion Success was a must this year for Orlando's Gay Days and after last years struggles all I can say is Gay Days is back!

First the weather was some of the best in years, while there were a few t-storms in the afternoons they came early and almost all the events. Let's Go Play - beautiful, Magic Kingdom - just a few raindrops and hot but really nice, P House Concerts, Outdoor Stratosphere Party - All Dry and Successful.

Attendance - The events are well attended and the crowds are great, but I would say they are not overcrowded which I enjoyed and this bodes well for Gay Days 2011. Super Host Hotel - One major expo and center for events, expanded events and activities - 3 Pool areas for different groups. The feedback I have heard is it worked out well and most everyone has been pleased with the new location.

Mark Baker Events - He is back and the parties have been lots of fun and high energy. Stratosphere (WaterMark Media & Mark Baker Events) put was so much fun last night I wish more people would have experienced it as it really was well done. DJ Moran did a fantastic job. We are looking forward to Fasscination tonight at Hard Rock.

Parliament House has been doing well too with their Adult Stars, late night Concerts and other attractions. Last year P House came out a big winner as other events faded. This year P House presented a good line-up of former pop singers - Debbie Gibson and Taylor Dayne played to energetic crowds and the place was buzzing. We were there Thursday and it was a perfect start to our Gay Days weekend.

Well, it's about time to get start thinking about dinner and tonight's plans. I will let you know how it goes.

Wed & Sat Super Villians Parties - New

When a Party gets added to Gay Days with less than 2 weeks to go, it raises some eyebrows. When two parties with the same theme are added with 2 weeks to go, you have to believe that they know what they are doing or it could be a big bust.

Here is what we know about the Super Villains Parties
1. The 1st One is Wednesday which means that it is the 1st Club Party Event of the Gay Days week. It is geared for locals & Disney cast members as the pay $20 to get in (well those 21 and over). If you are under 18 or a non-resident (of what we are not sure of) then it is $30.
2. The 2nd on is Saturday and called Super Villains Encore

The Event is in Kissimmee so expect a 15 minute ride from Downtown Disney or 20 Plus from SeaWorld - Doubletree Resort.

There are Performances during the night by AntiGravity, which is a Cirque like group. After visiting their website and learning the Pink's Grammy performance was created by an AntiGravity director and that the tour I was more impressed by what this party could be.

However, they leave a lot up in the air.
- Is their a DJ or what type of music is featured? Hip Hop, Remixed Dance, Electronica, etc...
- What is the Legion of Darkness Show? Vague and how can people buzz about the unknown?

The event is run by DreamHawk Productions which we ready couldn't get a read on. The website for the event appears haphazard and does not make you feel like this is a well thought out event.

Last year, Gay Days Reborn - Launched a party at Motion with 2 weeks to go and it just never got off the ground. While the location was good Pleasure Island, they failed to target properly market the event via either the Gaydays or One Mighty Weekend crowd and the result was a disaster as less than 300 people attended the event.

Will Super Villains suffer the same fate, well they have some challenges.
- First while they are on the Gay Days web site, their 1st Party is before the Gay Days Expo opens and people can learn about the event.
- Second they go against some strong Saturday night competition. Stratosphere and P House, but there may be room to have a successful event but they but have a strong showing at the Expo to sway people to attend.

As for me, I am not sure whether to attend this event or just rest up for the big weekend. It could be a sleeper success or another Gay Days bust but only time will tell.

Gay Days Event Preview - Stratosphere Universal Party

2009 was the year without a Big Theme Park Party, but 2010 Watermark & Mark Baker are bringing us something NEW.

Stratosphere at Universal Studios
This is the biggest party of the weekend and is attended by 1,000's of guests. The main focus will be at Universal's Music Plaza, which will be turned into Party Central where DJ Tony Moran will keep the energy flowing.

Plus you'll can always take a break from the music and ride these great attractions:
Shrek 4-D, Twister
Revenge of the Mummy
& Rip Ride Rocket - The Newest Universal Roller Coaster

What we like about Stratosphere is the price $75!
They really went out of their way to keep the price down and it is $20 less than the 2008 Disney party. Plus if you want go early and grab dinner at City Walk at Universal - they have a variety of restaurants including Emeril's, Margaritaville, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Hard Rock Cafe, Latin Quarter and sports themed eateries too.

We are glad to have the BIG Saturday Night Party Back and Can't Wait to Go!

Gay Day 2010 Preview - Chus & Ceballos at House of Blues

Thursday Night kicks off the Gay Days Parties and the biggest Circuit / Dance Party on Thursday is Mark Baker's Party at House of Blues. We have heard it called the Grind party, Wonderland Party and the House of Blues party but what we are sure of is that:

It is Chus & Ceballos Party!
And it starts at 9 pm and runs to 2 am

Anyone who considers himself to be a serious lover of House music has spent many magic hours embracing the infectious sounds of Chus & Ceballos.

Famous for their trademark Iberican sound, a delicious blend of hypnotizing, warm, inviting tribal soundscapes laced with a brilliant use of modern tech elements, Chus & Ceballos have figured out the formula that easily satisfies every punter within the clubbing collective.

Check out some of their music here to see if you like there style.

Orlando Gay Days Preview - Beach Party Let's Go Play

Let's Go Play's Beach Party @ Typhoon Lagoon, formerly the Beach Ball party is a Gay Days signature event.

What can be better beach, men and music? Well tan guys in boardshorts, squarecuts and bikinis too. While the guys attending come in all shapes and sizes, this is the reason many of us do a little extra cardio in April and May.

Let's Go Play is on Friday Night from 8 pm - 2 am.
Tickets have been selling briskly and Let's Go Play has gradually stepped up the price of the event and current prices are at $79, which is still less than 2008 when they were $95.

Quick Facts:
Lydia Prim is the DJ for the event
Debbie Holiday is to perform live at the event
And Francillia will also be performing - Will U B Mine
The Wave Pool is Open
The Lazy River is Open
The Rides are Open

June Weather in Orlando
FYI - In many cases thunderstorm season starts in June, but the good news is that storms tend to pass pretty quickly. If it does look like rain, my recommendation is that you make sure that you bring something warm and water proof.

Personally, I love this event when it is dry or after the rain has ended. Buying tickets is a risk but in most cases the weather is good. I missed last years event, but I am happy to be going to this years Beach Party! Hope to see you there.

Bachelorette Parties - Need To Learn To TIP

Hey Girls, Congratulations your best friend is getting married and you've decide to visit a gay bar to see a drag show and go-go boys in dancing in their underwear. Great have a wonderful time!

But remember or learn one thing: TIP
Yes - TIP

The other night I was at Pulse in Orlando and there was a group of 6 - 8 ladies and the bride to be. They were gaga over this one male dancer and he was showing them a great time dancer to them, taking photos and he even jumped down off the stage for a group photo.

And after he got back on the bar to dance they walked away. NO TIP! NOTHING!

I am sorry few things piss me off then seeing such rudeness. Seriously, women need to learn to tip properly and understand that no man is paying for their drinks and they need to step it up an learn to tip. They should have given the dancer at least a $5.

So Bachelorette Parties here are some Gay Bar Tips
- When buying drinks $1 per drink or 20% is standard
- If you take photos from a distance - Tip the Guy at least $1
- If his gives your group attention & group photos $5 is a good start
- Drag Queens - If you like the show tip $1 and if they do something special for you and your group a few extra bucks.

Just be fair and if someone goes out of their way during the Bachelorette Party then go out of your way and say Thank You with a Tip.

Gay Days Event Reviews - Parliament House aka P-House

There are a lot of events planned for Gay Days, so have do you learn about everything. Well, sign up for my blog and I will be reviewing big and small events at give you information so you can decide what you would like to do during Gay Days. Check out our full calendar of Gay Days events at

We will start with an Orlando Gay landmark Parliament House.

The Parliament House is hosting 4 nights of Gay Days activities.
Thursday Night - Welcome Party (PI at P House) No cover until 11 pm
- They bring in Dawn from PI's Mannequins
- DJ Brianna is outside and DJ Dido in the Disco

Friday Night - $20 Cover
- Debbie Gibson will go on at Midnight or 1 am
Plus Adult Video Stars, Foam Parties, Footlight Players & DJs

Saturday Night - $20 Cover
- Taylor Dayne will go on at 1 am
Plus Adult Video Stars, Foam Parties, Footlight Players & DJs

Sunday Night - $10 after 6 pm
- American Idols Blake Lewis & Frenchie Davis will go on at 11 PM and Midnight
Plus Adult Video Stars, Foam Parties, Footlight Players & DJs

What you need to know:
Parliament House is unique and can be great fun, but know what to expect.
- The crowd is diverse from young studs to bears to older men.
- P House is a hotel and people stay there
- They have a theater, large dance area, 4 smaller bars/serving areas, an outdoor stage where performances take place and have a lot going on. It is kind of a circus & great for people watching.

Crowds tend to run in the 1,000's for Gay Days and pick-up after 10 - 11 pm, so if you are there at 8 pm don't expect a packed house.

Last year saw P House come into it's own and several nights with packed houses. We thought the line-up last year was pretty strong. This year we are a little disappointed about Sunday night but we hope we will be surprised.

Cover charges are fare, since a normal cover charge is $8 and only $20 during Gay Days.

For many Parliament House is like a pilgrimage and you must attend at least one event a year and see Miss Darcel Stevens or your favorite bartender.

And for those going out to P House during the day on Sunday check out the Boy Search at 6 pm. Harmless fun in the Orlando Sun!

Gay Days Hotel Rooms - Selling Out and Booking Faster Than 2009

Well early indications are the Gay Days 2010 is on track to be more successful than 2009.

With Gay Days 3 and half weeks away.
GayDays Host Hotel is Sold Out!
Mark Baker's Wonderland Event - Host Hotel has less than 20 rooms
And word is that Girls in Wonderland is also doing a brisk business.
Learn more about the Gay Days Hotels

With last years tough economy and event meltdowns, it was hard to predict whether Gay Days might loose it's luster. Well to put it simply, I can say the shine is back at Gay Days and they are really pulling at the stops for Gay Days 2010.

More events, the Big Saturday Night party is back, Let's Go Play is back for a second year and tickets are selling well.

And best of ALL is that prices are being held and in some cases are lower. Promoters and hosts really wanted to make an effort to make Gay Days affordable for Orlando residents and visitors.

And the strategy appears to be paying offer as rooms and pre-purchased tickets for several key events are running ahead of Gay Days 2009.

Gay Days Hotels - Choosing the Right Orlando Hotel for You

So you thinking about coming to Orlando for Gay Days, but aren't sure which Orlando hotel to stay at?

Do you stay at a Gay Days host hotel or do you look for a cheaper alternative nearby or select something totally different. Well let's review Gay Days Orlando hotels so you can decide.

DoubleTree Resort - International Drive
This is the host hotel for and Girls at GayDays.
- Central location within 15 minutes to Universal Studios, Hard Rock Cafe, Typhoon Lagoon, Magic Kingdom and Shopping, but you will need transportation.
- Host to GayDays Expo, ART at Gay Days, Film Festival
- Host to daily Pool Parties, Evening on site Dance Parties and Comedy Shows

This hotel will have the most activities of any location and while gay men and lesbians will be at the hotel they will have their own venues. So it will be together yet separate.

Holiday Inn @ Walt Disney World
This is the host hotel for MarkBakerEvents and it is just for the guys. Yes the entire hotel is blocked out for the weekend so it will be men, men, men.
- Within 5 minutes House of Blues Downtown Disney and Typhoon Lagoon, Magic Kingdom about 10 minutes, 15 minutes to Universal Studios & Hard Rock
- Welcome Party and Pool Parties are exclusively for registered hotel guests
- Book a room by March 31st and get 1 GD2010 Weekend Pass Free

Points to note it is just for the Guys (which I like), you can use Disney transportation if you choose, down side is that your new friends can't come to the pool party if they don't stay there.

Courtyard Marriot & Fairfield Inn at Marriott Village
These are the official Girls in Wonderland host hotels expect lots of ladies
- Within 10 minutes of Bongos & House of Blues Downtown Disney and 15 minutes of Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios, and Hard Rock
- Onsite welcome reception, Pool Parties and one After Hours Party
- Pool Parties are free for registered hotel guests

The pros are that this hotel is women only and their are lots of pool events right outside your door and bus transportation to a few parties. Downside it might be a bit loud with the after hours party.

Buena Vista Palace
This is the hotel that formerly held One Mighty Weekend events and is now holding One Mighty Reunion Events.
- Passes to all three Reunion Pool Parties included with your hotel reservation.
- Within 5 minutes House of Blues Downtown Disney and Typhoon Lagoon, Magic Kingdom about 10 minutes, 15 minutes to Universal Studios & Hard Rock
- Downside - Hotel is not exclusive so expect a mix of couples, families and guys

While the location is good, you will be sharing the hotel with regular Disney guests. One Mighty Weekend took a big hit last year and really under-delivered and has re-grouped as One Mighty Reunion, until they prove themselves again this would not be my first choice. However, if other hotels sell out then this would be an option.

Not interested at staying at one of the Gay Days 2010 host hotels, then consider some of these hotels that offer great amenities and are close to Gay Days Orlando events.

Portifino Bay at Universal Orlando
Italian inspired hotel on Universal property - Good for parties at Universal and events at Hard Rock, 10 Minutes from GayDays Expo, 15 minutes from Disney

Shingle Creek
Large Orlando hotel about 2 - 3 miles from host hotel for Golf course on property and a very relaxing place.

Disney also has a lot of hotels on property and you may want to choose one that is around the Downtown Disney area if you want to go to any Downtown Disney parties and Typhoon Lagoon. Also check out the web site for other co-host hotels.

Gay Days 2010 - Conversation with Mark Baker

Gay Days 2010 - New, Different and Fun

I just got off the phone with Mark Baker of MarkBakerEvents and let me be the first to tell you that he is excited to be involved with Gay Days 2010! And after speaking with Mark, we here at are glad he is back.

During our conversation, Mark shared his thoughts on Gay Days past, Gay Days 2010 and what they are trying to do differently this year. I will focus on Gay Days 2010 here.

Years ago Mark Baker and Watermark Media helped make Gay Days a party destination for Orlando, Florida, US and International visitors. The group of parties they created were sold and those parties remained very successful for years. In 2009, the economy and other issues resulted in big changes; Pleasure Island closed ending a Thursday night tradition, the Disney Theme Park party never materialized and other parties were hit or miss. However, those changes resulted in the opportunity for Mark Baker to return for Gay Days 2010.

As Mark put it, Gay Days 2010 represents change, excitement and an opportunity to for event attendees to say Wow, Awesome, Amazing or just leave them speechless.

Mark also noted that it's time to shake things up, do something different and provide a unique experience that guys from Orlando, Tampa and all of Florida will want to attend. A real destination weekend. "We know everybody is on a budget these days, so we have worked hard to get the most out of every event while keeping the cost affordable."

And based on what I am seeing this are great price points
Grind - Thursday night $25 (Last year is was $40 or $50)
Stratosphere - Saturday at Universal Studios - $75 (Prior years $95)
After Hours Parties at Arabian Nights - $50 (I think it was $60 last year)

And Mark Baker is also doing something different with Pool Parties this year, as he noted it is a "Value Added" approach, yet also exclusive. Only those staying at the Holiday Inn at Walt Disney World Resort will be able to attend the Pool Parties.

Some might be saying, I can buy a guest pass right and the answer is no!

Mark Baker Events blocked about the entire Holiday Inn, which means that this is a guys weekend. Which is a huge commitment, but you are not going to run into Mom, Dad and strollers around every corner. The benefit is that you can be yourself and feel free to hold hands, embrace or kiss freely. We like that.

In the past Gay Days pool parties could cost $30 a piece or $60 for a weekend, but Mark said we decided to include it in the price of staying at the Holiday Inn. (I mean the completely renovated brand new Holiday Inn that looks amazing. Watch the video before you judge.) We want guests to stay at the hotel, have fun and be at a great central location. Those staying at the hotel get a welcome party on Friday and a Saturday and Sunday pool party.

And Mark saved the Best Deal for last, however this is a limited time offer.

If you book at Gay Days Weekend Vacation at the MBE Host Hotel - Holiday Inn before March 31st, 2010 - You will get 1 Free GD2010 Weekend Pass (1 per room reservation) a $250 value!
PLUS - You'll get into the MBE Pool Parties.

As our conversation wrapped up, Mark told me that a lot of thought and planning has gone into the return of MBE to the Orlando Gay Days events, more than any recent event in memory.

"All I can say is that we have put together an amazing line up of events and packages and hope that everyone will come out and enjoy it - because it will be an incredible time."

We hope Mark is right and we plan to be there!

Gay Days 2010 - The Big Saturday Night Party is Back!

Gay Days 2009, saw high hopes, power outages, favorite venues become history, colossal party failures, great weather and success for GayDays, Parliament House and Let's Go Play parties!

Many wondered is Gay Days had peaked would the famed Saturday Night Theme Parks & Pleasure Island events remain past memories? View Gay Days 2010 Events.

When Let's Go Play took over Beach Ball, everyone rejoiced and silently said "Thank God!" What would be Gay Days without hot music, hot guys and well you get the picture.

So after the absence of One Mighty Weekend Saturday Night Theme Park Party, I was fearful that it too was gone for good. However one promoters disaster is another persons opportunity.

While I would have loved to run a Gay Days party, I just don't have the cash and the knowledge. However, I have great news Watermark Media, Tony Moran and Mark Baker do!

Together they have put together a great set of events for the weekend and I will be reviewing them all the the Big One is....

Stratosphere - Saturday Night at Universal Studios!
Yes, Universal Studios - And Tickets start at $75

It's not the same as the Disney parties, but it is a great start to making Gay Days 2010 bigger and better than last year.
